A view to the northeast from Lucky Peak (elev. 5,904 ft.), where the Hawkwatch crew would scan the sky for migrating raptors. And quite often see a great many of them.

A view to the southwest. Luckily, we didn't have to look this way.

The basic setup. Whenever I try to take candid photos, I always hit the button right as someone looks up.

A little aerial skirmish.

As luck would have it, the raptor trapping crew caught an immature red-tailed hawk on my first day up there.

The recently-released red-tail sails off towards Boise in the hazy early-fall air.
